Rules, controls and help for Crazy Eights

The example and rules describe the same game you can play above. Empty your hand by matching the active suit or the top card’s rank. Eights let you choose the next suit. Each player starts with five cards from a standard 52-card deck. The starting discard is not an eight. Keep the goal in mind before your next move.

Two-player free play with a local computer opponent. No draw-two stacking or reverse cards. A refreshed page starts a new round.

Try a more deliberate round

Take a moment to check the current turn. After an eight, match the called suit or play another eight. The eight’s printed suit is not the active suit. The game area remains available above the explanation.

What counts as success

A careful first move helps you understand the round. Empty your hand by matching the active suit or the top card’s rank. Eights let you choose the next suit. Keep the goal in mind before your next move.

The steps to play

  1. Each player starts with five cards from a standard 52-card deck. The starting discard is not an eight.
  2. Play one matching card. An eight is always playable; choose its suit using the suit selector before tapping the card.
  3. After an eight, match the called suit or play another eight. The eight’s printed suit is not the active suit.
  4. Draw one card at a time when needed. Drawing does not end your turn; keep drawing or play a legal card.
  5. The stock is not recycled. With no stock and no legal card, pass. Two consecutive passes end the round in a draw.
  6. The first empty hand wins. New round deals again.

How your actions work
